Select a Web App
Form Manager works with web apps rather than forms. When you publish a project in Form Studio, the forms in that project are published to a web app on a web server. Users then access your forms via the web apps. If a Form Studio project only contains one form, the form effectively equates to the web app in which it runs. If a project includes multiple forms, all the forms in the project are published to the same web app. You can publish a project to more than one web server, e.g. for fail-over scenarios or test and production environments, in which case you will have multiple web apps for that project. You can also, of course, publish more than one project to the same web server, in which case the web server will host multiple Digitise Forms web apps.
Form Manager obtains details about the web apps available from the Digitise Forms Configuration Database. This database is generally also used to store audit and diagnostic logging for your forms.
Consequently, in order to view or modify the settings available in Form Manager, you need to point Form Manager at a Digitise Forms Configuration Database from which it can extract details of your web apps and then you can select the web app you want to look at. Before you select a web app, you can only access the Form Manager Home page and the Servers, Manager Settings and About options on the Form Manager menu. All the other options on the menu are only available once you have selected a web app.
If you have already entered connection details for your Digitise Forms Configuration Database, you can select the database from the Server option on the web app selector bar.
The Web App option, to the right of the Server option, will automatically be updated with a list of the web apps available from the selected database. To display the list, click on Select a web app and choose the relevant web app from the list displayed. To use a different web app, drop-down the list again and select your new web app.
Alternatively, if the required web app is displayed under Previous Connections in the centre of the Form Manager Home page, simply click on it to reconnect.
If you haven't yet entered the Digitise Forms Configuration Database connection details in Form Manager, you will need to use the Server option from the Form Manager Menu to add them.
You can always see which is your currently selected web app when using the Form Manager, because the selector bar is displayed throughout the Manager. You can change the current web app at any point within the Manager.
If you select a different SQL Server from the Server option, the list of available web apps should automatically refresh, but if not, you can refresh the list manually by clicking on the Refresh button,, beside the Web App option.
The Database Status and IIS Status fields on the web app selector bar should both change to Connected and you can now view and modify the configuration settings.
If the IIS Status field isn't displayed or doesn't display Connected, you will not be able to view or modify some of the configuration settings available in Form Manager. Remember, in order to be able to access IIS, you must load the Form Manager using the Windows 'Run as administrator' option. In addition, your current user credentials will need to have local administrator permissions on the machine hosting IIS.
